Sharing Non-Fiction Books

We have been working hard at writing non-fiction books in first grade. It is fun to teach other people something we know "all about." Today we shared our books with the first graders in Mrs. Rasmussen's class and they shared their books with us!

Fractions

We have been exploring fractions during math. Today, we used our fraction strips to find equivalent fractions!

Author & Illustrator Visit

On Monday, May 2, author Kate Klise and her sister and illustrator Sarah Klise visited Brookfield Elementary School. It was so fun to listen to how they create their books! We even got ideas of new books we could write with 1 character, 1 problem and 1 journey.

Surprise! It's Mrs. Atols and Evan!

We had two very special visitors come by right after lunch today for a quick visit. We got to see Mrs. Atols, and we got to meet Evan. He slept the whole time he was here! He sure is cute!

Arranging Rocks

Today we read a story about a boy named Peter who had a rock collection. He arranged his rocks a lot of different ways, then we got to do the same. We found out you can arrange rocks by their color, shape, size and even how rough or smooth they are.

Make sure you are creating your own rock collection at home, and start bringing those collections in!
