Fall Party Fun!

Today we had our Fall Party. We played Fall Bingo with candy pumpkins, made adorable picture frames for a craft, and enjoyed many tasty treats. A big thank you to all of the parents who helped to make such a fun time for us!

Math Skills

Today we used dominos to look for even and odd number patterns.

We also used pattern blocks to fill shapes and create patterns.

Working with Words

During our word study time, we have been working on segmenting words. This means splitting them into parts. We played "Follow the Path" and "Go Fish" to practice this skill.

We have also spent time sorting words. We look for something that is the same about them and put them into groups.

Outdoor Classroom

This week we attended a special ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of our outdoor classroom. Ms. Gutchewsky, Dr. Gibson, and even Mayor Ponto spoke at the event. We're so excited to have this wonderful new facility! Thank you to all of the volunteers who made this outdoor classroom a reality!

New Classroom Books

Thank you to all of the families who donated money to our coin drive. This money went directly to purchasing new books for our classroom library from the Scholastic Book Fair. So many great, new titles have been added. We truly appreciate your generosity!

Painted Ladies

Our third insect has arrived! The Painted Ladies are in their larva stage. Ask your first grader what segments, prolegs, claspers and/or bristles are!

Computer Lab

During math today, we went to the computer lab. The first graders had a great time playing "Penny Cup" on the Everyday Math On Line website.
