Reading Like Writers

This week we began our first Unit of Study in writing. After listening to books read aloud and reading books independently, we discussed what we noticed about them. We have been keeping a running list so that we can use published authors' ideas to help us in our writing.

Math Explorations

During math on Monday, the first graders took part in their first "Explorations." They had the opportunity to use Pattern Blocks, Base Ten Blocks and Geoboards.

Making Books

After reading books today, the first graders got to make some of their own! It was great to see the excitement build and the ideas flow. We have some awesome young authors in first grade!

Teamwork Trail

During the first week of school we worked on getting to know each other's names. On Thursday, we played a game called "Teamwork Trail." We tried to land on letters in our name and our partner's name.
